[plsc_dropcap color=”black”]H[/plsc_dropcap]ead Interior designer Suzanne Stuart-Banks looks ahead to the annual interior design show at Chelsea Harbour design centre, London.

From 12 -17 March 2017, designers, architects and tastemakers from the UK and overseas will head to Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour for the interior design world’s ultimate design show event. With a burgeoning interest in the science of design, London Design Week 2017 this year is all about exploring methods, makers and materials that have shaped the new season.

We asked Suzanne a series of questions about the show and the designers who’ll be in attendance. Suzanne also reveals her favourite collections at the moment.

How many years have you been attending the design show?
This year will be the 21st year attending the the design show. It’s so important to visit these events as a designer because they showcase the latest and leading collections from the finest companies and designers.   As a designer inspiring my clients everyday,  this is my opportunity to be inspired!
What is it about the show that you are so inspired by and enjoy the most?

The Chelsea Harbour Design Show offers so much. I’m inspired by the setting, where it is in London, and the attention to detail – the floral displays as an example.  I also love seeing all my reps from the companies I stock here at The Interior Studio, whether it’s seeing Pascal at Pierre Frey or Lizzie at Designers guild, I just love catching up with them and meeting people from the interior design industry.   Finally, I’m so inspired by the collections and designers who are presenting at the show. The buzz of the new collections all beautifully presented is what makes the show such a success.

Is there a collection or designer that you are particularly excited about visiting?

Pierre Frey is always a company I am always particularly excited to see.   They manage to combine elegance and longevity with a contemporary twist that makes the collections so  ‘of the moment’.

What is your ‘hot’ designer at the moment that people should look out for?

Ralph Lauren is the epitome of understated chic… I think the brand is adapting to our desire for more natural and elegant ‘Country House style’.  One to watch out for or to return to for sure.

What is your favourite new collection this season?
My favourite new collection is Manuel Canavas. The French Fabric House never ceases to lift your spirits.
Where would you recommend clients to visit in order to be ‘Wow’d’?
Porta Romana lighting is the place for original and exciting lamps and shades.  Their innovation keeps us fed with inspiration every season.
